Achieving Zero Liquid Discharge while complying with Effluent Limitation Guidelines

Curious to know how you can achieve zero liquid discharge at your facility? CH2Mer Tom Higgins will present the paper, “Enhancing FGD Wastewater ZLD Design and Insights from Simulated Brine-Solidification,” co-authored by CH2Mers Dennis Fink, Senior Project Manager and Krystal Perez, Senior Project Engineer, on Thursday, August 18, from 10:35-11 a.m., during the Power Plant Pollution Control and Carbon Management MEGA Symposium, in Baltimore, Maryland.

Recharging groundwater in the City of Fresno

Brian presented his paper, “Using Optimizing Modeling for Transmission Mains to Find Cost Savings for the Recharge Fresno Program,”at the American Water Works Association’s Annual Conference and Exposition, held June 19-22, in Chicago, Illinois. Brian’s presentation reviewed CH2M’s optimization model used to help the City of Fresno reduce overall costs of constructing a large conveyance system to alleviate its groundwater depletion. Brian also presented on “Developing a Regional Water Conservation Program for the Metropolitan North Georgia Water Planning District,” and “Incorporating Uncertainty in Water Demand Forecasts Increases Confidence,” in addition to moderating the session, “21st Century Water Conservation & Sustainability.”

Investing to make water and wastewater utilities more resilient

Two CH2Mers were featured in the United States Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) recent video, “Don’t Get Soaked: Invest in Emergency Preparedness, Prevention and Mitigation Activities,” which highlights the benefits of investing in preparedness, response and recovery activities at utilities.

Celebrating World Water Day 2016

Every year on March 22, the United Nations recognizes World Water Day, an international observance and opportunity to learn more about water related issues and be inspired to take action to change our water future. The first World Water Day was dreamed up in 1992 at the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development and the first annual observance took place in 1993. This year’s theme, “Water and Jobs,” was chosen to help raise awareness for the 1.5 billion people, or half the world’s workers, who work in water related sectors and will focus on how the quantity and quality of water can change workers’ lives and livelihoods. Read today's Access Water blog by CH2M's Global Water Business Group President Peter Nicol to learn more about this annual day dedicated to addressing water sustainability through technology and innovative solutions.
