Integrating Coal Combustion Rule and Effluent Limitation Guidelines – The Dollars are in the Details

Utility Solid Waste Activities Group, an association primarily dedicated to assisting members in the management of wastes and beneficial use of materials associated with the generation, transmission and sale of electricity and natural gas, is hosting a special workshop on Coal Combustion Residuals, February 17-18. The workshop is open to all USWAG members, affiliates and non-members and will provide a valuable forum for discussion on CCR management issues. CH2M's Dennis Fink and Martin Reif are attending and presenting on the "Implications of Final CCR Rule and Effluent Limitation Guidelines on CCR Management," at the workshop.

Complying with the Coal Combustion Residuals Rule and Preparing for the Effluent Limitation Guidelines

Join Tom for an insightful discussion on how to prepare for the effluent limitation guidelines and comply with the coal combustion residuals rule or check out today's Access Water blog to learn more.

Water and Wastewater Services for Power Generation

The Power industry is facing many water and wastewater management challenges, including but not limited to tightening wastewater discharge limits as a result of more stringent water-quality-based effluent limits, and pending U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Effluent Limitation Guidelines. The Coal Combustion Residuals rule, new water intake structure requirements, thermal discharge requirements, water scarcity, increasing reuse, aging infrastructure, and air quality regulations are also causing drastic changes in wastewater management for the Power industry. Dealing with these challenges can be taxing on the industry, especially while continuing to generate power during implementation of modified or new systems. Mike Bobinecz, CH2M HILL's Vice President and Private Water Sector Power Lead, discusses how CH2M HILL is helping Power clients address complex water and wastewater projects by developing innovative compliance strategies and more.

CH2M HILL at the Second International Water Summit, Abu Dhabi, January 20-22, 2014

CH2M HILL is pleased to announce its participation in the second International Water Summit, hosted by Masdar and co-located with the 7th World Future Energy Summit at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, January 20-22, 2014. Part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, the Summit will gather leaders from the global water community in policy, business, academia, and science to accelerate the development of new sustainable water strategies and technologies for arid regions and bring to life the pressing issue of water security, sustainability, and the water-energy-food nexus. CH2M HILL is a global leader in developing and delivering sustainable water and energy solutions and is looking forward to participating in several key discussions.

Australia to Ramp-Up Energy Production

A recent report by Morgan Stanley reveals that Australia is poised to be the biggest exporter of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the world by 2017. Many Coal Seam Gas developers are working diligently to bring this new resource to market, which requires a reliable extraction and management of billions of gallons of coal seam water. CH2M HILL's Beccy Philby and Andrew Hodgkinson discuss methods for treating coal seam water, looking at solutions that are more energy efficient.
