Six years ago civil engineer Candice Hein spent time volunteering with Bridges to Prosperity in Zambia. When she was asked by the organization to return to assess and repair pedestrian bridges that had been built in several communities, she jumped at the chance and decided to make the trip her honeymoon! "While it isn’t very conventional, it was the most educational trip we have ever taken… and it was so rewarding for me to blend my past travels with my new partner-in-crime." Nearly a month after returning home from a Bridges to Prosperity trip in Nicaragua, engineer Paul McKay is still in touch with the people he met in the community of Las Brisas and reflects on the power of these relationships and what he learned from the experience.
